Today, I’d like to reflect on my favorite concept albums of all time.
No, its not Dark Side of the Moon or anything like that. This one comes toward the end of the Golden Age (88-98), a time when the East Coast ran Hip Hop from its high hors, drums were still FAT and producers still sampled.<p>
Prince Paul was the Autuer of this album, crafting the storyline, the music, and choosing an allstar cast of characters.
The album features cameos by Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, Chubb Rock, Biz Markie, De La Soul, Everlast, Sadat X, Xzibit, Kid Creole, Special Ed, Chris Rock, RZA and Buckshot. At this point in time, all of these people are at their pinnacle! Some were rising stars, some were falling stars, and some just indie vets who will be around with tina turner and cockroaches when the world ends. If you do not have this album, and consider yourself a fan of mid 90’s music in general- you must download it asap or buy it. I’m really disappointed that Amazon nor Itunes has it available for download! This is the bestselling album of one of the most underrated hip hop producers of all time. Come on!!!
PS- There needs to be a DVD made of this. Because just listening to the album straight through is like a mini movie. Close your eyes…

T.I. will serve as the executive producer on a reality show based on the life of hip-hop producer Mars.
The show – called “Life On Mars” – will follow the 22-year-old hit maker as he handles everyday life while trying to juggle writing hits for various big name artists and his band 1500 Or Nothing.
The show is currently being shopped to various major TV networks.
I look forward to seeing this on TV soon and just pray that none of the content gets watered down…
We shall see. Keep an eye out!
