MURS + ZUNE
November 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to the new Music Industry. If you have been under a rock for the past few years, Rappers are doing deals with Mountain Dew, Tours are being supported by Ipod Rivals, and Diddy has his own Vodka. This indeed is the new music industry. The question still remains how underground and unknown music artists can take advantage of corporate sponsorship. Yes, artists like the Cool Kids have struck deals with EA Sports, Rhapsody, and Mountain Dew, But they have been expanding their online empire for a couple years now.
ON THAT NOTE….
MURS, underground hip hop legend-turned-major-label-signee, will be having a meet and great at Loyola University in New Orleans today. Expect full updates tomorrow with pictures, audio, and video!

Cory Gunz says he’s “ready”
November 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Straight for his mouth:
“I’m happy to be here at a good, terrific stage in my life. I think I’m at a show and prove stage. At some point in peoples careers, they find this point to be pressured. But I’m ready- I’ve never been this ready before.”
From an interview at Big Boot radio/Crescent City Radio. Also talks about upcoming projects, Shaq/Koby diss, and spits a quick freestyle.

Currensy FIN – this can’t be the last one…?

Can it?

From a marketing/promo perspective this is pure genius. Put out a lot of material in a short amount of time, and then say your finished. FS Jets tapes on the way. And I smell a record deal and major label album being dropped by Currensy in 2009. Who wants to take bets?

How I Met Jay Electronica…
September 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I’ve been a big fan since the beginning. I may Jay Elect in New Orleans in early 2007. We have a mutual friend that introduced us and later we worked in the studio together. We (me and some young N.O. producers) played him tracks and he played us some tracks (over Madlib, Dilla, and Mr. Porter beats). He rapped over one of my tracks.
Unfortunately we have lost contact in the past year and understandably so. With the Nas album and their growing relationship, his undeniable buzz on the Net, Rock the Bells Tour, and his upcoming solo disc- I’m glad to just have the opportunity to have met him. He was an incredibly well spoken, thoughtful, and humble dude. It was hard not to like him. We all smoked together and watched Children of Men (on a killer Bootleg). Shout out to 2dopeboyz for a great blog.
Here’s a vid I snatched from 2dopeboyz.com, probably my favorite hip hop blog. It basically sums up how bad ass Jay elect is.

M2M previews Trifecta
Trifecta was the first hip hop group that I interviewed here at M2M. The Trifecta mix tape is finally here. I was able to listen to it thanks to my roommate AKA Rockwell, who left a copy sitting in the common room. To be honest, I had very high expectations because I know how hard Rockwell has been working on this project and I have to say that I was blown away on all levels: beats, lyrics, production, etc. With their second project already underway, I see nothing but big things happening for this trio.
The group recently had a guest appearance on Crescent City Radios’ The Hip Hop Hour. Trifecta played some tracks for listeners and talked about The Sikkis and their upcoming project which is expected to be released in August 2008. It is my understanding that The Sikkis will be released on both TuneCore and iTunes soon. I have been listening to The Sikkis for two days straight and there are some great tracks, my personal favorite is track 13 (don’t have the tracks names!). The one track title I do know, “NO To The Bay”, features Loyola rapper G-Eazy. For more information check out Trifecta MySpace and Rockwell Beats.
